UPCOMING EVENTS

PAST EVENTS

Frost Fest

December 18th Local 222 hosted the 2nd annual Frost Fest at the hall. This year was a huge success with 97 kids and families signed up to see Santa. Members from different units and retirees also participate in a members market, which they had an opportunity to sell various handmade items that they have created. During this time local 222 also collected Non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys, hats, mittens, scarves and socks were hung on our tree of hope, all in which will be delivered to Simcoe Hall Settlement House in time for the winter and holiday season.

19th Annual Walk for Suicide Awareness

The event was held in support of those affected by suicide and assists in raising awareness within the community. All donations raised go directly to the Suicide Survivors Initiatives run by Distress Centre Durham. Many Unifor Local 222 members showed to up in support.

Walk a Mile In Her Shoes

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a yearly event hosted by the Bethesda House in Bowmanville. Together, we are creating a positive impact, promoting awareness, and supporting those who are experiencing gender-based violence and abuse.  Local 222 President Jeff Gray, Vice President Chris Waugh and members of Local 222 joined in the walk on August 19th, 2023.

Tears to Hope Relay

The Tears to Hope Society created this fundraising event five years ago. The goal is to support the families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls & two spirits relations (MMIWG2S). This year Unifor has partnered with the Society to hold solidarity run/walks across the country. Here is what happened at Local 222.
