This unit operates in the same building as Local 222 founding unit Skinners, which later became Houdaille. This unit was formerly known as AG Simpson.

These members are the support staff for student association at Durham College.  They perform outreach services, administer the student insurance plan and engineer the radio station.  These workers were certified by the Ontario Labour Relations Board on August 14, 2014.  Once part of an association that covered both Durham College and UOIT, they split into two separate entities as of August 31, 2017.

Durham Region Transit (Durham Region)

On January 1, 2006, Durham Region Transit was created, amalgamating various transit divisions throughout the region including Oshawa Transit, Ajax/Pickering Transit and Handi-Transit. On February 10, 2006, a union representation vote was held and Local 222 became their bargaining agent. On October 30, 2006, after a 4-week strike, Durham Region Transit members ratified their first collective agreement. Local 222 represents the transit drivers as well as the maintenance workers, clerical workers and specialized services employees. Oshawa Transit had been a unit of Local 222 since 1987.

General Motors of Canada (Oshawa)

On April 23, 1937, an agreement with General Motors was ratified by the membership and Local 222 became the bargaining agent for the union members. On November 26, 2018, GM made the announcement that they would close the Oshawa facility. Following a fightback campaign by our members, GM agreed to keep the plant open but will transition the facility from manufacturing vehicles to stamping and sub-assembly.  However on November 5th 2020 a tentative agreement was reached with General Motors to bring truck assembly back to Oshawa. The agreement was ratified soon after. Starting In 2022 Oshawa will be producing light and heavy duty trucks in the Oshawa Assembly Plant.

This unit also represents the office and clerical workers at Loblaw in Ajax. These workers voted to join Unifor in July 2016.
